About Us

Our Mission

The North Texas Association of Philippine Physicians (NTAPP) is the leading resource for the North Texas Filipino Physicians to provide quality continuing medical education programs, deliver free medical and preventative care to impoverished and underserved communities in the Philippines and in the United States, and provide aid for the education of needy but deserving medical students to become Physicians in the Philippines.

Community Building Achievements and Commitments

  • Medical and surgical yearly mission since 2002 to the present
    • Annually in the Philippines
    • Participated with Katmandu, Nepal surgical mission
    • U.S. local community medical Outreach and flu vaccination
    • Financial contribution to medical clinic of the Philippines' poorest community "Smokey Mountain"
    • Distributed eyeglasses, dental care kits, toys and clothes
  • Community Infrastructure: Funded Philippines Gawad Kalinga Housing Project with 30 houses and two deep wells constructed and completed at Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija. Philippines Gawad Kalinga, which means to give care in Filipino, seeks to empower poor communities to become self-reliant and sustainable by building up its people.
  • Contributed to Philippines Bantay Bata (Abused Children). Bantay Bata is a social welfare program aimed to protect disadvantaged and at risk children through a nation wide network of social services.
  • Philippines Medical Student Scholarship: 4-5 scholars per year
  • Strategic contributions to natural calamities in the United States and the Philippines
  • Contribute and support other 501(c)(3) organizations.

The First 30 Years


Recent History

2002 - constitution and bylaws first promulgated ( with subsequent amendments in 2005 and 2013)

2004 - designated as tax-exempt charitable organization by IRS

Medical missions to the Philippines ongoing since mid-90's - more recent missions (from 2007 to present) are recorded under "Philantrophy" - has served over 20,000 medical, surgical and dental patients.

Sponsored NTAPP Village in Nueva Ecija for 30 low-cost housing units and provided deep well water pump for clean water

2011 - supported "Bantay Bata" shelter and advocacy center for children in Manila

2005 - donated $30,000 to "Gawad Kalinga" community development foundation

Since 2012 - donations to Mother Teresa's Sisters of Charity orphanage, typhoon and flood victims, (most recently the typhoon Yolanda victims in 2013) - over $60,000 donated to Caritas Manila and T2T4 Hope in Estancia, Philippines

Since 2010 - 2 surgical missions to Nepal

Jan 27- Feb 14, 2015 - medical missions in Tagum and Mati, Davao- treated 4140 patients (1700 peds, 2050 adult, 390 surgical)

Jan 25-Jan 30, 2015 - medical missions in Mandaue, Ronda and Talamban, Cebu- treated 1420 patients

May 2015 and ongoing - Drs. Asuncion and Pecana assisted Nepalese Association of Texas sort out and order medical-surgical supplies including antibiotics for earthquake victims. Dr. Pecana joined surgical mission to Nepal. NTAPP sent individual and group cash donations.


Local/Regional Accomplishments

2011 - outreach program for pediatric patients in Grand Prairie, Texas

2012-2013 - extended aid to victims of Oklahoma tornado and super storm Sandy
